This mythic symbol of quality, Clear Line comics was created by Edgar P. Jacobs, one of Hergé’s top aides, in 1946 and has remained a best-seller ever since. Jacobs loved recreating scientific inventions (the Swordfish, for instance), developing archeological mysteries (that of the tomb of pharaoh Akhenaten) and exploring science-fiction worlds (a present-time Atlantis is a good example of this). He also brought in an extraordinary set of characters, such as Miloch, Olrik, Sato, Septimus…

The series has been continued by other authors since 1996, with great success and devoted readership (if you are interested in it, this blog by Miguel Frognier is an excellent place to get you started). René Sterne was hired as a cartoonist of the series in 2004, although, sadly, not everything came out as planned…
